Reggae Reggae Veggie burger (wetherspoons)
After my recent trip to Redscar brewery we decided to call in at wetherspoons for a final pint before heading home, as i sat down with my pint i noticed that they had started doing a Gourmet Veggie Burger with Reggae Reggae sauce on, so i decided to try one of those (much to Emily’s surprise…I’ve never ordered a meat free option before) as i was probably a bit too tipsy to cook anyway.
The burger is described on the menu as follows:
Vegetable burger , topped with:
• Large flat mushroom
• special Reggae Reggae tomato sauce
• Six beer-battered whole onion rings
and served with chips.
It cost £7 including a pint, you’re only supposed to be allowed a choice of a few but i manged to persuade the barmaid to let me have a pint of one of the guest real ales.
The burger its self looked huge when it arrived, it had plenty of reggae reggae sauce on, 6 big onion rings and some suprisingly crispy salad, it was very tasty, had loads of flavour and the reggae reggae sauce gave it a pretty decent kick, the chips weren’t too bad either considering they were just the standard pre prepared mass produced chips.
It is definatley something i will be having again soon and something i will try to replicate at home.
Chilli Up North Verdict: Suprisingly yummy for a chain pub burger, great value especailly with the drink included. 7/10 (Heat: 4/10)
