Dartmoor Chilli Farm Chilli and Coffee Chocolate

September 14, 2010Chilli Productschilli and coffee, chilli chocolate, chocolate, dartmoor chilli farm Standard

I  was recently sent a little goodie back from Dartmoor Chilli Farm on it’s arrival the first thing I spotted was this chocolate and as it happened a cup of tea had just appeared on my desk at work,  as a result I ended up ripping the chocolate open in scenes reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate factory.

Chilli and Coffee Chocolate

The chocolate comes in 100g bars and contains 70% cocoa solids, which means it’s has a really lovely dark brown, almost black colour with rather sumptuous sheen to it, the high cocoa content also gives it a lovely smell, with no hint of what is about to hit you.

The first thing you notice is the lovely velvety texture that is then broken up by the crunch of the coffee beans which give it a bitter sweet flavour, next the chilli finds it’s way to your senses, just a slight tingle and a little bit of chilli flavour as the coffee disappears from your mouth. It’s another one of those slow burners, the heat builds up the more you eat, and as it happens I had to go and hide the bar in the car so that I didn’t scoff as it’s the most more-ish chocolate I’ve ever had.

If you would like to try some for your self you can buy it from here.

Chilli Up North Verdict: Absolutely gorgeous chocolate, not to sweet, not too spicy, lovely texture, buy some now 9/10 (heat 5/10)

Hi Great web site, just thought I would send you a recipe of which we eat on a regular basis out here on Vancouver Island. A nice fillet or even a whole fish if you have company of either Sockeye Salmon, Coho Salmon, Spring Salmon, Chum Salmon or even the lowly Pink Salmon but never Farmed Atlantic Salmon,[ for ethical and health reasons, too much drugs and chemicals] in a shallow cast iron roasting dish pour olive oil then place a bed of Sea Asparagus with the fish laid on top Drizzle some olive oil over the top then cover the whole thing with finely chopped Chillies of your choice, about a tablespoon full, my preference is either Aji Lemon or Czechoslovakian Black, bake in a preheated oven at 425 until the fish is done [depending on the thickness of your fish],
Serve with your favourite veggies and enjoy. Just began to grow Manzano’s last year and these may become my favourite due to their distinctive flavour and heat. Good luck up their in the NE, dare I ask if that is Yorkshire which is where I moved from back in 72 to the West coast.
