For me Seabrook crisps are totally under rated, their salt and vinegar is the perfect post hike snack with a pint in the pub, their Wasabi are possibly my favourite crisps in the world ever.

Not content with doing what most crisp makers do and just use the one chilli flavour in their crisps, Seabrook have gone for a whopping 2 chillis, the fruity and firey habenero and the under rated Jalapeño.

They come in a nice big bag for sharing (or muching while watching England beat Scotland in the 6 nations)

The crisps them selves don’t stray from the loved crispy, crunchy crinkle cut, the seasoning adds a dark red tint to theĀ potato and they smell rather spicy.

Flavour wise they aren’t packed with loads of heat but there’s a nice tingle there, they are quite smokey and really do taste of chillise.

I love them, they go great wtih beer as they don’t over power it or loose out to stronger beers as they have more than enough flavour to hold their own.

These caught my eye in wilkinsons the other day, mainly because there was a huge stand of them (i also got wasabi, chilli and cheese and rib flavour) they were also on offer for 78p which is nearly £1 less than in morrisons and tesco.

I was kind of excited to try them as the new punked up packaging promised that they were hot and extreme so i was expecting a big hit of flavour once id popped the top.

Unfortunately they did nothing to back up the extreme claims, they were pretty much tasteless, they did taste of chilli but were hardly spicy, in fact they were less spicy than most “sweet” chilli crisps I’ve tried. I event tried eating half of the pack to see if they were one of those snacks that the heat built up the more you ate, but again i was let down, they predominant flavour being crisp…i nearly said potato but that would be a lie as they didn’t even taste of potato.

Lets hope the other flavours are a bit more extreme.

Chilli Up North Verdict: Pretty much as far from extreme as you can get 2/10 (Heat 1/10)

I’ve just sampled the Walkers do us a flavour, Chilli and Chocolate crisps.

They were nice but definatley more chilli than chocolate, but they did have a sweet aftertaste which i guess you would put down to the chocolate.

They are the only ones ive tried yet so im not going to vote until ive tried the rest and also tried another packet of these just to make doubly sure.

I will also add that ive never been a fan of walkers crisps as they are a bit thin and soft, kettle chips are far better ;o)
